Taking Dominion: A Christian Mandate Rooted in Scripture
Taking Dominion: A Christian Mandate Rooted in Scripture |
The dominion mandate series started a few weeks ago by my Pastors has been refreshing. As usual after attending great meetings, I like to share my take away so I don’t become selfish and to encourage others to join me the time opportunities present itself; live or online. Just like the servant of God started with a scripture I will like us to see that scripture and get set to learn from the throne of grace even as we get refreshed this morning.
Gen. 1:26 ‘Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”’ – NKJV.
The first thing I got was that; dominion is not given but it is taken, no one will give you dominion but you have to take it. It is the responsibility of humanity to take dominion and not expect that they will be given, God has created man and has given us the mandate to take dominion, He is not responsible for giving us dominion, we are to therefore rise up to the occasion and take appropriate dominion as it may relate to us individually and severally. Again it was said, that taking dominion is a mandate and you don’t beg to take dominion, but once you have the atmosphere as created by God, you are to go ahead and fulfil mandate by taking dominion. God is not breeding lazy people, but determined people who should fight the odds and forces to take dominion as there are forces contending against the fulfilment of the mandate.
If we therefore sit as Christians to think God has said take dominion, and so dominion is so taken without a force applied, we are of all men lazy, and God is not pleased with such life, for He does not breed lazy Christians. There are forces of nature fighting your taking of dominion, there are forces of contenders who want the same territory you want to fight and there is the devil who does not want God’s glory manifested through you, when you take dominion and these are forces you must fight and you don’t fight them sitting in one corner and say God has said it He will do it, you are to rise up and do it. It is important to let you know here, that you are not to take dominion in all territories but to identify your area of calling and take dominion there, any attempt to want to win everywhere will see you winning in nowhere, be wise to identify your territory and take dominion there by fight threats to your dominance.
In closing for want of space and time, God made man in His image to take charge, and a Christian, you are fortunate to have dual dominion; dominion over the earth and dominion over the spirit realm. While others fight to rule seen forces, we have the advantage of taking dominion over spiritual forces through the Lord Jesus Christ. We must not rely on the spiritual dominance only to dominate the earth, we are only to take superiority in the spirit to find taking dominion easier than a non-Christian will find it. If we don’t play our role in taking dominion on earth, but sit in place of prayer alone to expect God to give us dominion, we will miss it as we are to go there and take the dominion at our territory, if ministry and church is not your territory, it will be effort in futility to sit in vigils and want to have dominion; as you pray in church you go to your field and take charge.
Identify your field; take spiritual dominion, do the earthly needful without laziness and you will fulfil mandate.
Prayer: Father, help me Lord to identify my responsibility and so play, that I may fulfil the mandate of taking dominion, Amen!
