Early Background and Education

Rev. Dr. Anthony Uviekovo began his educational journey at Wisdom Primary School, Effurun, where he obtained his first school leaving certificate. He proceeded to Unique Group of Schools, Effurun, where he served as Senior Prefect.

Afterward, he briefly attended Odin College, where he obtained his Senior Secondary School Certificate.

In pursuit of higher education, he enrolled in a Pre-Degree Program in Biochemistry at Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka. During this period, he gained admission into the University of Benin to study Science Laboratory Technology (Medicals).

However, it was while at the University of Benin that Anthony experienced a divine call, leading him to a new academic and spiritual direction. He transferred to the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso, and simultaneously attended the University of Ibadan, both in Oyo State.

This marked a major turning point in his academic pursuit - transitioning from the sciences into the arts and humanities. In 2011, he graduated from the Seminary with First Class Honours, earning over five awards on graduation night. He also bagged a First Class degree in Religious Studies (B.A.) from the University of Ibadan, making history in his academic journey.

Salvation Experience and Christian Service

Rev. Dr. Anthony Uviekovo surrendered his life to Christ on April 8, 1998, in a most unique way. The Gideon Bible group had distributed New Testament Bibles at his school. During a break period, he opened his copy, and John 3:16 written in multiple languages at the back caught his attention. Suddenly, conviction filled his heart, and he began to cry, asking God for eternal life.

The very next day, he preached his first sermon to his classmates during break time, titled “John 3:16.”

He joined the First Baptist Church, Effurun, in 1998, where he was nurtured and trained in discipleship. His zeal for knowledge made him engage in several discipleship programs: Follow the Master, Serve the Master, Mind of Christ, and MasterLife.

He also started the magazine “Baptist Okpemu” (meaning Pastor Big Things), which documented testimonies and inspired lives.

Anthony rose to leadership positions within the Baptist Student Fellowship (BSF), serving as:
